Cultural knowledge and intercultural communication skills are requisite for success in the integrated,interdependent world economy.As China’s economy continues to expand globally,increased numbers of competent multinational corporation(MNC) managers will be required,but there is currently a shortage of Chinese MNC managers with intercultural understanding and expertise.To overcome this shortfall,MNCs will have to recognize the need for personnel to become proficient in communicating across cultural borders.To facilitate that recognition,this essay demonstrates how culture produces varied perceptions of organizational leadership,conflict resolution,decision making,and negotiation.For each topic,theoretical explanations are supported with applied examples.Suggestions on ways for MNC managers to gain intercultural competence conclude the essay.
