“Dream of Red Mansions” is a monument of Chinese classical novels in terms of ideological connotation and language achievement. Since its inception, many translators have been involved in its translation and research, resulting in a large number of translations. There are two editions that are widely used and widely acclaimed: the versions translated by the couple of Yang Hsien-yi and Gonzalez, and the versions translated by the British sinologists David Wechssel and John Minford. These two versions of translation each have their advantages and disadvantages, but in many ways there are some differences. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the differences between the two versions of the translation of the “Good Song” in terms of semantic fidelity, relevance to the context, and translation methods.
