For the contemporary history of new poetry, the poetry circles in the mid and late 1980s have very special and important meanings. In just four or five years, the immense prosperity of the poetic world was astounding. Countless associations, genres, experiments and declarations sprung up, leaving readers and critics dazzled. After the bustle, turning over history and removing noise and frivolity, we find that those hard and meaningful parts remain as the true core of the history of poetry at that stage, and also provide directions, methods or experiences as rich resources for later poetry writing . Li Zhensheng’s book The Season Turns is a summary of the history of poetry at that stage. The author possesses a wealth of information on the ins and outs of the important poetry genres, a comprehensive review and analysis of the creative background and theoretical sources of important poets. This comprehensiveness and profoundness have brought its splendor to today’s reading without losing sight of it. Many of the questions raised in the book are still relevant to the poetic world after that stage and today.
