Homocysteine (Hcy) is an intermediate of methionine metabolism, and methionine is derived from the basic sulfur-containing amino acids in food proteins. Folic acid and vitamin B12 are important auxiliary components of Hcy metabolism. The abnormal metabolism of Hcy is closely related to various vascular diseases.
