本文在一个专利竞赛模型的基础上研究了我国企业的创新是如何发生的,以及竞争程度和市场需求又是如何影响企业创新的发生机制的。根据世界银行对中国制造业企业调查的微观数据所进行的计量分析,本文得出的主要结论是:市场竞争越激烈,市场需求规模越大,越能促进企业创新。但不同规模的企业其创新的发生机制是不同的:大企业的创新更偏重于需求驱动,而小企业的创新则更偏重于研发驱动。本文的政策含义是:在中国特有的巨大市场需求规模的条件下,加强竞争的产业政策可以促进企业持续进行需求导向型创新,从而有力地提升自主创新能力,并最终促进生产率和竞争力不断提高。
Based on a patent contest model, this paper studies how the innovation of Chinese enterprises occurs, and how the degree of competition and market demand influence the occurrence mechanism of corporate innovation. According to the quantitative analysis conducted by the World Bank on China’s manufacturing industry survey micro-data, the main conclusions of this paper are: The more fierce market competition, the greater the market demand, the more able to promote corporate innovation. However, the mechanism of innovation in companies of different scales is different: the innovation of large enterprises is more emphasis on demand-driven, while the innovation of small enterprises is more emphasis on R&D. The policy implications of this paper are: Under the conditions of China’s unique huge market demand, the strengthening of competition in the industrial policy can promote companies to continue demand-oriented innovation, thereby effectively enhancing the ability of independent innovation, and ultimately promote the continuous increase of productivity and competitiveness. .
