Global Economic Situation The U.S. economy has shown signs of recession. Japan’s economy is on the brink of recession. Analysts generally expect that in 2007, the global economy will still mainly rely on emerging economies in order to sustain growth. There are indications that the global economic center of gravity is gradually moving to emerging economies. In 2007, when Robin Beyot, chief economist of the British “Economist” Group, talked about the global economy in 2008, he said that emerging market countries represented by China will become the global economy “engine.” However, while the world economy is growing in 2008, it is also facing the risks of increased economic uncertainty in the United States, rising crude oil prices, possible burst of some asset bubbles and inflation.
