对于接口技术,“火线”(FireWire)的名字非常具有创意,很有速度感。但如果告诉你它的学名——IEEE1394,恐怕谁都会觉得拗口,于是有一部分人索性就叫它“1394”。其实,IEEE1394是接口的一种,它的标准化始于1986年,由 IEEE1394委员会主持。从1988年开始,苹果电脑公司着手研究 IEEE1394的基本技术,并给它起名为“FireWire”。对 PC 界来说,具有决定性意义的是硬盘驱动器厂家 Seagate 等公司把IEEE1394作为硬盘接口,并在取得众多的支持后又推出了改良版IEEE1394.a。其标准数据传输率为100Mbps、200Mbps、400Mbps 和800Mbps,最后一种的速度甚至超过了 UltuaWide SCSI 的320Mbps,更是远远的超过了现今广泛采用的 IDE 接口的100Mbps。最

In fact, IEEE1394 is a kind of interface, its standardization began in 1986, chaired by the IEEE1394 committee. Beginning in 1988, Apple Computer set out to study the basic IEEE 1394 technology and gave it the name FireWire.
