在作物育种工作中,通过对表现型的选择来判断遗传型的优劣,目前仍是育种家使用的基本手段.由于表型表现受到遗传型、环境和遗传型-环境互作三方面的影响,可以把表型值(P)看成基因型值(G)、环境值(E)和遗传型-环境互作值(GE)的线性函数,即P=G+E+(GE).因此,在育种过程中,利用表型值估算遗传效应,不可避免地含有非遗传的环境效应成份,即存在遗传型与环境互作.由于这种互作存在,使遗传型与表型的相关性降低,以致在遗传和育种试验中,减少了从表型试验结果推断遗传型的可信程度.
