穆棱晒烟始于1902年(清光绪28年)种植,已有80余年历史。1976年以后逐步形成商品晒烟基地,每年商品量在15万担左右,占黑龙江省的60%。该县是全国名晒烟基地县之一,晒烟叶除满足本省需要外,还销往辽宁、吉林、河北、河南、安徽、陕西、山东及广州、北京、天津等省市。还准备出口外销。穆棱晒烟色泽鲜亮,颜色多红黄、桔红色,烟叶组织细致,弹性好,劲头适中,燃烧性强,灰色白、不脱落,阴燃保火力强。近年来几个烟厂在卷制混合型卷烟时用穆棱晒烟做主料。
