简·里斯的《藻海无边》以《简爱》中阁楼上的疯女人为原形,通过描述以主人公安托瓦内特为代表的克里奥尔人的悲惨命运,无情地揭露出殖民主义时期种族歧视和由此引发的文化身份危机对社会边缘群体的恶劣影响,本文拟从安托瓦内特和好友蒂亚,黑人保姆克里斯托芬以及丈夫罗彻斯特三人的关系解读影响安托瓦内特命运的文化身份危机。
Jane Rees’s “Boundless Algae” takes the insane woman in the attic of Jane Eyre as its prototype, mercilessly exposed the colonialism by describing the tragic fate of the Creoles represented by the hero Antoinette Period racial discrimination and the resulting cultural identity crisis on the marginalized groups of society, this paper intends to interpret the impact from Antoinette’s relationship with good friend Tia, the black nurse Christopher and her husband Rochester Antoinette’s cultural crisis of identity.
