1957年Margoshes和Vallee在马的肾皮质中发现了一种含有大量镉的低分子蛋白质,此后Kagi和Vallee进一步提纯了这种蛋白质,并发现其中S的含量特别高,加之含有金属,故称为金属硫蛋白(Metallothionein,MT)。Pulido等(1966)发现人体中也有MT,从人肾分离出的该蛋白中含有Cd、Zn、Cu和Hg。后来在许多动植物中也先后分离出了MT。
In 1957, Margoshes and Vallee discovered a low-molecular-weight protein containing cadmium in the kidney cortex of the horse. Kagi and Vallee further purified the protein and found that the content of S was extremely high. Metallothionein (MT). Pulido et al. (1966) found that there are also MT in the human body, and that the protein isolated from human kidney contains Cd, Zn, Cu and Hg. Later in many plants and animals have also separated the MT.
