English teaching and learning in china has stepped into a new era.To acquire English,as a linguist says,what is the most important is the pronunciation.Language transfer“has been a central issue in applied linguistics,second language acquisition and language teaching for at least a century”(Odlin,1989).language transfer occurs between mother language and the second language.Though many people devote themselves to English pronunciation,yet due to language transfer.The students’incompetence in acquiring pronunciation makes their learning a great problem.In Northern Shanxi people encounter pronunciation transfer from Northern Shanxi dialect.
