绿豆蟓是常见的豆类产品贮藏虫害。以幼虫蛀食各种豆粒,尤以绿豆、小豆、豇豆、蚕虫为甚,仓内、田间均能繁殖为害。绿豆蟓成虫体长2～3毫米,赤褐色、头小、正面成三角形,复眼马蹄形包围触角基部、背面中央有2个椭圆形白色斑纹。触角11节,雄虫梳齿状、雌虫锯齿状。幼虫体长3～3.5毫米,乳白色、肥胖,生活在豆粒内。绿豆蟓成虫善飞,有假死性。幼虫能在田间及仓库的豆粒中为害。世代重叠,一年可发生11代以上,以幼虫在豆粒内越冬,次年环境适宜羽化成成虫爬出豆外。卵产于豆粒上,也可飞在田间产卵于豆荚上,孵化后幼虫即钻入豆粒为害,直至羽化成虫。完成一代需20～50天。
