At the invitation of Adenauer Foundation, 11 members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences delegation went to Germany to exchange views on May 3 to May 15, 1994. During this visit, “the economic revitalization of China and East Asia” has always been a hot topic. At the bilateral academic symposium held at the Foundation of Adenauer Foundation in Bonn, Dietrich, Director of China Department of German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, made a wonderful speech on China’s economic development with East Asia and the Sino-German relations. He pointed out that at present, The proportion of foreign trade is still small but rapidly growing. In 1993, Germany almost surpassed Japan in economically strong areas such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia. The current favorable conditions for the development of Sino-German economic relations are as follows: The mutually complementary and dependent relations between the two countries have been established. In developing economic relations with the Third World, including China and East Asian countries, Japan, unlike Japan, focuses on exports. Germany, on the other hand, not only cares about exports but also encourages imports. At the same time, Germany is committed to capital goods exports in order to promote long-term local economic development
