The issue of laparoscopic colectomy for the treatment of colon cancer is still controversial, and in many cases there are reports of the implantation of cancer cells at the cannula septum. The source of this disease is not yet known. Pneumoperitoneum can force free intraperitoneal survival of tumor cells. Local recurrence occurs at the cannula hole. In previous experiments, the authors confirmed that a 1.33 kPa (10 mmHg) pneumoperitoneum could increase the implantation of tumor cells at the cannula ostia. This experiment was performed at random.
