2012年的伦敦奥运会上,美国男子拳击首次出现了无缘奖牌的情况,曾不可一世的美国奥运拳击队遭受了有史以来最大的羞辱。虽然,赛后众多业内人士纷纷站出来辩解并找出开脱理由,但显然这已经突破了美国业余拳击的底线。最近的20年间,美国业余拳击在奥运赛场仅获得了3枚金牌,这三人分别是1 992年巴塞罗那奥运冠军霍亚、1 996年亚特兰大奥运冠军大卫·雷德和2004年雅典奥运冠军安迪·沃德。在美国奥运拳击辉煌时期,美国选手很少会到国外参加所谓的邀请赛和交流赛。20世纪80年代的全美业余锦标赛中,任何级别的前3名几乎均可排进世界前8之列。而限下美国男子业余拳击迅速衰退主要由于以下两方面原因:一是其他国家的业余拳击水平显著提高,二是美国无法像过去那样轻易
For the first time in the 2012 London Olympic Games, the United States men’s boxing missed the medal. The once veteran American Olympic boxing team suffered the greatest humiliation ever. Although, after the game many people in the industry have come out to justify and find justification, but apparently this has exceeded the bottom line of the United States amateur boxing.
