桐柏县位于河南省南部,桐柏山脉北麓,全县总面积19.41万公顷,林业用地面积占60％,森林覆盖率为50.1％。植物种类有756科2700种,其中有国家和省重点保护树种18种;野生动物130种,其中国家和省保护动物30多种,建有太白顶自然保护区一处,是河南省以林为主的重点山区县。
