对于计算各种切削工作中所必需的切削马力说来,在铣削方面因切削条件复杂,故比车削更难计算。车削时其切削面积大致一定,而铣削时切屑厚度不绝地变化。因之近年来对于车削虽已作了很多有价值的研究和科学实验,但对于铣削的复杂切削的研究却延缓未作。直到现在尚无关于铣削所需马力的确实可信的意见。今德国ADB铣削委员会进行了有关“铣削所需马力计算”的必要的实验。车削时的切削马力按下式计算:
For calculating cutting horsepower necessary for a variety of cutting work, it is more difficult to calculate than turning because of the complicated cutting conditions in milling. Turning the cutting area is roughly constant, while the thickness of the chip change endlessly. Therefore, although many valuable studies and scientific experiments have been made on the turning in recent years, the research on the complicated cutting of milling has been delayed. Until now there was no definitive opinion about the horsepower required for milling. The German ADB Milling Commission conducted the necessary experiments on “Horsepower required for milling”. Cutting horsepower cutting by the following formula:
