New Zealand is a region where the modern tectonic movement in the South Pacific is very strong with active faults all over the country. Since 1840, 17 M ≥ 7.0 earthquakes have occurred. However, the extent, nature and intensity of active faults shown in various parts of New Zealand vary widely. In this paper, the scale of active faults in each area, the crustal horizontal and vertical velocity, the geothermal flow, the anomalous gravity anomalies and the Moho interface wave velocity since Late Quaternary are introduced. By contrasting the characteristics of modern tectonic movement and crust The geophysical properties of the medium divide New Zealand into six modernly-constructed regions. According to about 1000 M≥4.5 instrument seismograms and historical earthquakes from 1960 to 1980 in New Zealand, the regional characteristics of intensity frequency and activity types of seismic activity in six districts of New Zealand are discussed.
