Objective: To analyze the status of HIV infection in unpaid blood donors in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, and provide a scientific basis for ensuring blood safety and recruiting blood donors. Methods: Two kinds of ELISA reagents from different manufacturers were used to detect the blood donors’ samples initially and twice, and the specimens positive for screening were sent to the CDC for confirmation by WB method. Epidemiological analysis was conducted on the confirmed results. Results: The positive rate of HIV positive screening in unpaid blood donors was 0.21%, and the positive rate was 11.33 / 100000. Male infection rate was higher than female (P <0.05). The age group under 40 years old was the main infection group, which was significantly different from those over 41 years old (P <0.05). The infection rate in the following high school was 89.66%, which was significantly different from that in the university (10.34%) (P <0.05). The occupations were mainly in the non-permanent occupations (free-lance, individual and service) populations, with significant differences from other occupations (P <0.05). Male-male behaviors accounted for 34.48% of the total positive HIV infections. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of HIV infection in unpaid blood donors in Jiaxing Prefecture of Zhejiang Province is on the rise. There is a trend toward the spread of low-risk populations. Male-male behavior has become an important route for HIV transmission. Publicity and education should be strengthened for donors, and the introduction of more advanced Detection methods to prevent the spread of HIV by blood.
