白鹭洲位于吉安市城东,赣江江心,面积约1.5平方公里。洲右原多白鹭栖息,前人借唐代李白“二水中分白鹭洲”诗意而命名之。“岂独山原林麓之观,似有天作地生之状。”这是古人的赞语。白鹭洲是赣江一明珠。白鹭洲洲形为梭,双水夹流。周围群山环列,东有螺子山,西有青原山,二山一洲,联璧生辉。洲上古木参天,绿草如茵,水木明瑟,四季宜人。“鹭飞振振兮不与波上下,地活泼泼也无分水东西”(中山院门联),“面对白骘洲,葱茏树木稠”(郭沫若诗),……难怪古今文人墨客要为之赞叹不已了。
