This article examines the 18th century British novelist Henri Fielding’s masterpiece “Tom Jones.” By analyzing the changing course of Mr. Allworthy’s attitude towards Tom Jones in the novel, he discusses the weaknesses of the human nature shown in Allworthy’s character. This article challenges Mr. Allworthy’s moral status and points out that Tom Jones and Sofia West Grace is a new generation of moral models.
