鲁迅对莫泊桑评价很高,称之为世间两大短篇小说家之一(另一个是契诃夫),肯定他的作品“无论从形式、结构以及表现手法上看,都达到了短篇小说所要求具备的高度。”关于《项链》,鲁迅介绍日本著名文艺理论家厨川白村的意见道:《将刹那间的幻觉当作生命现象之真,以至堕入悲剧的境地,影响一生的命运,这富有哲理性的暗示,使读者读后如梦初醒,遂使它终于成为不朽的名篇。”
Lu Xun highly praised Maupassant, calling it one of the world’s two major short story writers (the other is Chekhov). He affirmed that his works “reached the requirements of short stories in terms of form, structure, and expression. With respect to the “Necklace”, Lu Xun introduced the famous Japanese literary theorist Chuan Chuancun, saying: "The illusion of the moment as the essence of the phenomenon of life, and even fell into a tragedy, affecting the fate of a lifetime. The philosophical hints make readers wake up after reading and make it finally become an immortal classic. ”
