Assault Breaker is the name given to the US Department of Defense’s follow-up echelon armored vehicle program to attack cluster movements that are far from the enemy defenses. Currently, the only way to attack these targets is to use manned approach aircraft. The advantage of Assault Bre-aker is that it can allow long-range projectile weapons to attack these targets. The Assauh Breaker is envisioned to achieve unparalleled high kill rates at a much lower risk and much lower cost than current tactical permits. Department of Defense officials believe Assault Breaker’s firepower can destroy a sufficient number of vehicles from the Warsaw Pact States reinforcements in a matter of hours, preventing each other from taking advantage of some sort of breakthrough at the front of the battlefield. Two ways of launching Assault Breaker missiles are being considered, one being surface-launched missiles and the other being air-launched missiles.
