OBJECTIVE: To understand the radiation situation of medical X-ray staff and gamma ray staff in a field and to compare the blood system damage and the difference between the two types of radiation. Methods: The X-ray group, γ-ray group and control group were set up, and five subjects’ peripheral blood cells were detected and analyzed. Results: The total leukocyte count in X-ray group and γ-ray group was lower than that in control group (P <0.01), but there was no difference between two groups. The percentage of lymphocytes in γ-ray group was lower than that in control group (P <0.05) The percentage of lymphocytes in X-ray group was lower than that in control group but the difference was not significant; the other indexes were not significantly different. Conclusion: The peripheral blood cells of workers with occupational X and γ rays are damaged to varying degrees [1]. Peripheral blood is the radiation sensitive index of two kinds of radiation. The investigation results show that lymphocytes are more sensitive to γ-ray.
