作为我国具有代表性的民俗符号——娃娃,是我国民俗年画的重要表现题材,我国传统文化和佛教文化中,娃娃的原型分别具有生殖繁衍和化生观念两大内涵,而在与我国民俗文化长期的磨合中,佛教从上至下,由出世的佛教观念转化为入世的世俗崇拜,而传统文化则由下至上,由单一原始的生育繁衍崇拜衍生为明道修身的礼乐教化。民俗年画以其独有的民俗性、功能性和装饰性将这种转换以新的形态表现出来,使娃娃形态呈现出新的符号特征。
