The “Scarlet Letter” of the American writer Hawthorne also depicts the protagonist’s painful struggle between religious love and secular love while describing such topics as the controversy between good and evil, crime and salvation. This is reflected in the contradictions of the main characters, scene descriptions and symbolic meanings. Hawthorne tried to use the moral principle of being honest to save and adjust the hero’s torment. This struggle and suffering is in fact a spiritual and physical struggle. It resonates with generations of readers and has universal representation. This is undoubtedly an important part of the charm of the eternal art of the “Scarlet Letter.”
