“学习任何语言都需要大量阅读。学习英语也需要大量阅读。英语学得好的人,一般说来,都读过相当数量的书;反之,也只有读得比较多的人,才能真正学好英语”(黄源深,2005)。这段话是英语教学专家对英语阅读重要性的认识,相信也是所有英语教学者的共识。新课程标准规定小学阶段英语阅读量达到累计10—12万字。要达到这样的目标,没有足够的语言输入量是不行的,成功的英语教学要依赖大量的语言材料和语言实践。对于小学英语教学来说,首先要培养的是学生的听、说能力,当学生有了一定的听、说基础之后,就需要不失时机地加强阅读教学。因为英语学习需要不断地复现,需要大量的输入来强化。简单机械的复现和输入会使学生失去学习的兴趣,只有将所学的知识放到新的情景中,放到新的阅读活动中才能吸引学生,使学生保持持久的学习兴趣。因此,小学生的英语学习也需要大量的阅读输入。

This passage is an English teaching expert’s understanding of the importance of English reading, I believe it is the consensus of all English teaching. The new curriculum standards require primary school English reading volume reached a total of 10-12 words. To achieve this goal, not enough language input is not enough, successful English teaching depends on a large number of language materials and language practice. For primary English teaching, the first is to train the students’ listening and speaking ability, when the students have a certain degree of listening and speaking, we need to seize the opportunity to strengthen reading teaching. Because English learning needs to continue to reproduce, need a lot of input to strengthen. Simple mechanical reappearance and input will make students lose their interest in learning. Only by putting the knowledge they have learned in a new situation into a new reading activity can students be attracted and the students can maintain lasting interest in learning. Therefore, primary school English learning also requires a lot of reading input.
