Psychology researchers at the University of Notre Dame conducted a 10-week follow-up study of 100 participants aged 18 to 65 years. Researchers asked participants to stop lying and then undergo a weekly health checkup. The results showed that during the study period they were less stressed or sadly than usual and had fewer cases of sore throat or headache. Accordingly, the researchers concluded that less lying directly affects the improvement in people’s health and mental health: in comparison, honest people are healthier. Not long after, Professor Paris of Paris University School of Medicine in Paris explained that one’s own nervous system would be adversely affected when lying. Lying often causes sympathetic nervousness in the person so that the normal function of the brain can not be fully developed.
