In Japan, there are fewer people and fruit trees are poorly resourced. In addition to some resources such as pears and persimmons originating in Japan, most of the fruit trees are imported from abroad. In the current world, the reduction of tropical forests and the expansion of desertification have resulted in the extinction of wild resources. The development of agricultural production in advanced areas has led to a simplification of the genetic basis of crops and the rapid loss of local varieties and precious resources from the earth. In view of the above reasons, Japan attaches great importance and concern to the collection and utilization of the world’s fruit tree resources. Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries set aside a special fund in 1960 to set up seedling insurance
