The authors selected 30 patients who volunteered for a 2-year study from 530 IDDM patients who were regularly followed up from April 1988 to April 1990 in the Diabetes Clinic of the Affiliated Hospital of Nijmegen University in the Netherlands. Among them, 1 patient had serious headache withdrawal with 2-hour administration of angiotensin, and the remaining 29 patients completed the 2-year research plan. Twenty-nine patients were randomly divided into two groups. Fifteen patients (12 males and 3 females) were treated with Caifei. The mean age was 37 ± 2 years and duration of diabetes was 26 ± 2 years. Atenolol in 14 cases (11 males and 3 females), with an average age of 39 ± 3 years, duration of diabetes 26 ± 2 years.
