As early as adolescence, Dai Ailian is my worship idol. One day in 1946, my sister took me to see Dai Ailian’s performance. Her graceful dance with rich flavor of life brought a refreshing atmosphere to the turbid ten-day market in Shanghai. At that time, high school students like me became addicted after watching them. There was a song of love singing and dancing on campus, accompanied by dance songs such as “Youth Dance” and “Carriageman’s Song”. 50 years later in 1996, an occasional opportunity for me to have the privilege to get acquainted with this Chinese dance masters.
