Forrester Research predicts that by the year 2000, one-third of the 1.1 million U.S. companies will be connected to the Internet. Deal done through Interent will reach 65.8 billion US dollars. Although the domestic Internet market is still in its infancy, the China Information Industry Chamber of Commerce and China Electronic Equipment Corporation have realized the potential of the Internet. With the approval of the National Electronic Information System Promotion Office, the e-commerce and EDI Technology held 97 e-commerce applications and markets, EDI technology and equipment market seminars, with a view to further promote the development of the Internet, to lay the foundation for trading through the Internet
