澳大利亚工党1949年12月因国有化问题下台后,远离联邦政权达23年之久。直到1972年才又重新上台执政。工党的长期在野既与当时的国际环境有关,也与澳大利亚国内的政治传统有关,同时也与工党自身缺乏改革有关。
After Labor Party of the United States stepped down from power in December 1949 because of the nationalization, the Labor Party of Australia left the federal government for 23 years. It did not take power again until 1972. The long-term opposition of the Labor Party is both related to the current international environment and to Australia’s domestic political tradition. It also has something to do with Labor’s own lack of reform.
