Diffuse panbronchiolitis(DPB)is a relatively recentlyrecognized, idiopathic progressive disease, originallydescribed in Japan in 1969.It has distinctive clinico-pathological features characterized by chronic pulmonaryinflammation in the respiratory bronchioles of the lungand paranasal sinuses. It has been reported moreextensively among Japanese than other ethnic populationsThe first case of DPB in China was reported in 1996.Since then,an increasing number of cases have beendescribed, which suggest that this disease may not be rarein China. However, clinicians are not familiar with thisdisease and itmay be actually under-recognized andunder-reported in China. Therefore we summarize thecases reported in the mainland of China since 1996,hoping that this would help to increase the awareness ofthis disease.
