双语教学是一种兼顾语言学习和学科知识学习的有效的教学方式。随着我国加入WTO,提高外语教学质量,培养双语人才迫在眉睫,国家教育部提出要把让学生熟练掌握外语,特别是要把英语作为一项战略性的工作来抓。顺应时势的发展,基础教育课程改革和双语教学越来越受到人们的关注,同时也引起一些议论,尤其是对小学双语是否该搞,能不能搞,怎么搞,议论颇多。笔者认为,作为列入课程计划、影响到一代人素质的事,绝不能赶潮流,或受舆论左右,应实事求是认真思考,做自己能做的事,该做的事。
Bilingual teaching is an effective way of teaching that combines language learning and subject knowledge learning. With China’s accession to the WTO, it is imperative to improve the quality of foreign language teaching and to cultivate bilingual talents. The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China proposed to make the students proficient in foreign languages, especially focusing on English as a strategic task. In the light of the development of the times, more and more attention has been paid to the reform of basic education curriculum and bilingual teaching. At the same time, some controversy has also arisen, especially whether or not bilingual primary schools should be engaged in or not. In my opinion, as a matter of course, the quality of a generation should not be overtaken by the tide of current trends, nor should it be influenced by public opinions. Therefore, we should think seriously and pragmatically in order to do what we can and what we should do.
