The Pyramids of Egypt are the most important structures in complex buildings built for use by the royal family and other nobles after their death. There are two pyramid structures: one is a standard pyramid, and its side is a continuous slope from the foundation to the top; the other is a stepped pyramid, with four sides of it built with steps from the bottom up. The Step Pyramid is more ancient - the first one was built in 2660 BC by architect Imhotep for the third dynasty king Zoser. The Standard Pyramid replaced the Step Pyramid in the Fourth Dynasty to become the architectural model for the next 10 centuries.
