On March 4, NASA announced a plan to increase the space shuttle’s capacity to deliver near-polar orbiting satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The plan is currently being implemented by the Marshall Space Flight Center. One of the pre-research contracts for liquid propellant tanks was handed over to Martin Marietta and Aerospace Jet Liquid Rocket Company.
