英语作为一门基础课,是大学低年级学生的必修课。许多学生在进入高校后,由于一时明确不了大学英语的教学目标,分不清轻重主次,常感到英语学习难度很大。一些学生照搬中学英语的学习方法,面对大学英语大量的词汇、长而复杂的主文章、灵活多变的遣词造句和对听说能力的一定要求,往往束手无策,望书兴叹,甚至产生厌学情绪。要想使大学新生尽快适应英语学习,首先应搞清楚大学基础英语的教学重点是什么。 《大学英语教学大纲》规定:大学英语的教学目标是“培养学生具有较强的阅读能力、一定的听和译的能力以及初步的写与说的能力,使学生能以英语为工具,获取专业所需要的信息”。可见,在大学阶段的英语学习中,阅读是外语教学的主要目的,也是学生应当解决的首要问题。
