Mathematics, as one of the three major subjects of primary education, plays an important role in cultivating students’ abilities of thinking, abstracting, analyzing and transforming. Under the drastic reform of the new curriculum, a series of adjustments have been made to the mathematics teaching materials in primary schools. In the Standard of Elementary Mathematics Curriculum, more emphasis has been put on the cultivation of students’ ability to solve problems flexibly. Based on my own research on the diversification of elementary school mathematics problems for many years, the author discusses how to realize the diversification of primary school mathematics problem solving methods under the new teaching background.
