Seismic stratigraphy study: Seismic stratigraphic investigation: Veracruz Tongue, Deep Southwestern Gulf of Mexico, Allen J. Bertagne, C. James Tsal (G-79) Veracruz tongue The body includes the continental slope and Lu Long sediments. After a detailed study of two multichannel survey lines and single-covered spark focal data, five major sedimentary sequences were separated at the lower end of the Vela Cruz’s tongue. Their time is tentatively scheduled for the period from the Cretaceous to the Holocene. Based on the external geometry and the internal reflection structure, these sequences are further divided into sub-units. Core analysis is also used where possible to help explain. Sediments include the basal and distal turbidite layers, semi-deep sea sediments and deep-sea sediments. The history of the Middle Oligocene in the studied area includes the phase of turbidity influx, with a uniform accumulation of sediments between the phases. The isochronous map of the area in the deep ocean in the western part of the Gulf shows the large-scale regional evolution. In order to obtain a better quantitative impedance of the underground, the near-ridges of one of the multi-line surveyed data are expressed in the form of wavelet using the covering method and the output of the single covering is expressed in the form of true amplitude. Interpretation of reprocessed data adds information about lithology and the fluids contained. Two bright spots were found under the anticline, with high amplitude found in the monoclinic layer
