Ruby symbolizes enthusiasm, love and dignity. The Bible says: “Wisdom has more value than rubies.” It is said that rubies are the most precious of the 12 kinds of strange stones made by God when he created all things. In Myanmar, its history can be traced back to the Stone Age and Bronze Age. In the legendary mines in the Valley, it is often possible to excavate pure rubies, known as “pigeon blood”. The ancients who had never studied chemistry believed it to be the embodiment of a dead bird. Myanmar also circulates an ancient legend of “the gleaming red gem” in the “bottomless valley.” The locals took a piece of raw meat to the valley to lure the vulture, hoping that the gem would stick to the meat and be eaten by a vulture, and then kill the vulture and get it.
