Thomson - CSF is developing the Romeo radar (millimeter-wave barrier radar), which provides safe navigation for helicopters flying at low altitudes around the clock. After studying the propagation characteristics, resolution, and size for the best compromise, a millimeter-wave of 94 GHz was chosen. The “Roma meter” radar uses a frequency modulated continuous wave beam transmitted from a solid state transmitter.
