‘法西斯细菌’是‘五四’以来优秀剧目之一。当一九四二年这个戏在重庆首次演出的时候,戏中那些经历了过去十一年(一九三一年秋到一九四二年春)风云变化的人物,如俞实夫和静子,赵安涛和秦正谊,钱琴仙和钱裕,以及到第三幕才出场的马珍妮和阿发,金老板和叶先生,无论在演员看来还是在观众看来,都是当时现实生活中存在着的、彷佛就是自己的朋友甚或就是自己那么熟悉的、完全可以了解的人物。他们和演员之间的距离是很小的。舞台上的动作和语言很容易引起观众的会心的一笑。今天,一九五四年,重演这个戏,情况就很不相同了。这次演出,演员和剧中人物之间的距离加大了。在某种程度上说来,演员差不多要像演历史剧那样地创造这些已经成为过去了的、又没有完全过去的人物。应该承认,由於参加这次演出的同志们的努力,这次演出在一定程度上是克服了这方面的困难的。同时,观众和剧中人之间的距离也加大了。时间过去了十多年(一九四二年到一九五四年)。这十多年间的变化是巨大的:中国人民在中国共产党领导下已经从半封建半殖民地的、被国民党反动政府所统治的、被日本帝国主义侵略的旧中国战斗过来,建立了一个新的中国,并满怀信心地进行着社会主义的建设。
