Kazakhstan is implementing the two assessment plans for the impact of launch rockets launched by the Baikonur space launch site on the surrounding environment and the health of its residents. The plan is jointly developed by the Kazakhstan Space Committee and the Russian Space Agency. These plans, which are jointly attended by experts from the two countries, will be implemented from 2000 to 2004. Not long ago, the preliminary implementation results of the first phase of the plan showed that the carrier rockets launched by the Baikonur launch site had a negative impact on the health of residents. This result was obtained after examining the four regions of Karaganda from June to July this year. Three of these areas - Karl Karalinsk, Tonadalinsk, and Ureshot - are on the trail of rockets.
