His parents and their generation lived through the Cultural Revolution and by spending their savings on a piano, violin or anything they could afford, they partly fulfilled their own childhood dreams and looked to support their children's future, just in case their children, like them, had to go to the countryside, for these parents knew that with a skill they would have a better chance of returning to the city and finding work.
