年轻的美国记者斯诺到陕北考察采访,对毛泽东和中国共产党有了深刻的了解,写出了闻名世界的《红星照耀中国》一书。此后,斯诺在 1939年、 1960年、 1970年数次采访陕北和新中国,向全世界介绍中国发生的变化,为中美两国的建交做出了不懈的努力。斯诺晚年患病,毛泽东、周恩来派出医疗专家组赶往他的家中抢救。临终时,斯诺戴上保存多年的那顶他和毛泽东共同戴过的红军帽。他的一半骨灰安放在北京大学未名湖畔。
The young U.S. reporter Snow went to visit and study in northern Shaanxi and got a deep understanding of Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party and wrote the world famous book “Red Star Shines on China.” Since then, Snow interviewed North Shaanxi and New China several times in 1939, 1960 and 1970 to brief the world about the changes in China and made unremitting efforts for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Snow suffered illness in his later years, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai sent a medical expert team rushed to his home for rescue. At the end of the day, Snow put on the red cap he had worn with Mao Zedong for many years. Half of his ashes were placed at the unnamed lake of Peking University.
