OBJECTIVE: To study the etiological mechanism of the labial and palatal ulnar ambulation of maxillary canine with three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography. Methods: A total of 262 patients with maxillary canine ankle and 262 patients without canine ambush were enrolled in this study. The former was divided into labial ambush group and palatal ambush group, and CBCT was performed before treatment. CBCT data were analyzed under single-blind conditions for qualitative and quantitative data on teeth, dental arch and jaw. SPSS13.0 software package was used for statistical analysis of measurement results. Results: The mesiodistal width of lateral incisor of palatal group was significantly less than that of other groups (P <0.001). The width of the anterior arch arch and the width of maxilla in the labial ambush group were significantly less than those in the control group (P <0.001). The incidence of incisors in the palatal incisor group and the labial ambush group was significantly increased (P <0.001). The labial cusps and palatal buccal cusp groups were located in the proximal and distal long axis of the lateral incisors, respectively. CONCLUSION: Implantation of the maxillary canines on the labia majora in the Chinese population is mainly related to the insufficient width of the arch and the mandible and the incision of the incisors in the anterior maxilla. The palatal palatal ambush of the maxillary canine is mainly related to the over or under loss of the adjacent lateral incisors. The canine eruption path is affected by the above-mentioned local factors resulting in changes in ambush impacted in different directions.
