The largest U.S. study of the effects of drinking on the human body so far confirms that it is good for your health to drink one glass of wine a day. Those who drink a glass of wine, beer or spirits daily have a 20% lower rate of mortality over nine years than those who do not drink alcohol. Maier Steinpfer, an epidemiologist at Harvard University, said: “This is a huge effect.” Although similar findings have been reported before, the study is so large that there is little scope for doubt.
