In Kafka’s works, especially diary, letters and other autobiographies throughout the description of the body, of which the intuitive description of the hand and a lot of metaphor. Can be divided into two categories: physical hand, writing hand. Why does Kafka, again and again, use “hand” as the object of examination and expression? The answer seems to lie in the fact that the hand is a medium linking his body and mind, that is, life and writing. His ability and limitations that his deliberate expression of his hands are in fact akin to those of his own body make the choice and reflection between life and writing. He tried to grasp the intangible things of writing, but he often felt powerless. In his later years he realized it was too late to find the true flesh again. As a medium, hand provides a subtle path to understanding Kafka.
